Decadence

Much of the city was still without power, but Decadence trumps Hurricane in New Orleans. Pair-A-Dice Tumblers played for the Southern Decadence Parade in the French Quarter Sunday.

2012 Southern Decadence Parade

In response to the majority of the city still without electric power since Hurricane Isaac, the lead trumpeter quickly taught the band "Power to the People" on the march. He then got on a '60s Hippie tune kick, "People Are Strange", then, "Everybody Must Get Stoned" - YouTube Video. Personally I think the tune musically about the worst of Dylan's; but here's our version. Not inappropriate; the band has a 3-wheeled bicycle that follows us with an ice chest full of waters and beers. The water ran out fairly early on this sweltering summer day, and for the rest of the parade we tried to rehydrate ourselves on beer. Whee. Though I wish it was on a musically more interesting tune, you can hear me doing an old style trombone response to the trumpet lead, and Jennifer Jones, IMO one the city's better current generation of grand marshals, struts in front of the band.
